Job Description

Tennessee State University is seeking a Research Associate for our Agricultural Sciences

research programs.

The Research Associate will work with the team in conducting agronomic and entomological research projects. The individual will report directly to the project leaders.

Primary responsibilities include, but not limited to,

The individual should support and drive assignments to completion.

Individual must be in a position to show strong initiative and be capable of independent work.

Planning and implementing field experiments, maintaining experimental field plots, engaging in relevant laboratory studies,

Generating data, maintaining electronic databases, documenting results in field and laboratory notebooks and reports

Maintaining a safe and clean laboratory as well as all other assigned areas of responsibility

Maintaining field and laboratory supply inventory

Coordinating activities for student workers.

Minimum Qualifications

M.S. in Agricultural Sciences (or closely related field), or B.S. in Agricultural Sciences (or closely related field), with commensurate experience. Candidate must provide evidence of at least one year field experience in Agricultural Science or related field, and have demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. Expertise in field preparation, planting, harvesting, and pesticide application utilizing agricultural equipment is required. Lab experience is a plus. Experience using Microsoft Excel or other computer software for data collection and management purposes is needed. Effective oral and written communication skills and good interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
