Employees being promoted to a higher classified position receive the minimum for the position or a pay rate adjustment of 8% whichever is greater.
All regular positions also entitle the employee to several benefits including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement which is largely paid by New Mexico Tech for the employee and dependents.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Research Scientist II will provide independent, mid-level scientific capability within the Research and Development Business Unit of EMRTC. The position addresses a defined structural gap in the unit's scientific workforce as a professional, experienced researcher who can operate with meaningful autonomy on sponsored project tasks, without requiring the day-to-day direction. The Research Scientist II serves as a primary technical executor who carries research programs forward between conception and completion. Independently designs and conducts experiments, interprets results, manages project workstreams, and translates scientific work into deliverables for sponsors. A significant portion of this work will support HE manufacturing programs, including energetic material formulation including mixing HE, process characterization, and quality assurance activities. The position will contribute to proposal development activities, including drafting technical approaches, preparing staffing narratives, and supporting the assembly of competitive research proposals for federal and private-sector sponsors.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in Physical sciences, chemistry, or a closely related discipline. Experience with work in energetic materials, propellants, or chemically hazardous environments. DoD Secret clearance will be required to be obtained in a reasonable period of time.
