Position Description Advertised Job Summary:
The Project Reporter shall have primary responsibility for researching and drafting a report to be approved by the SC Law Initiative for submission to the General Assembly on a specific piece of proposed legislation.

Qualifications:
The Project Reporter must be a lawyer and member of the South Carolina Bar and must have at least 7 years of academic and/or practice experience in a field of law related to the proposed legislation that is the subject of the project. Experience in First Amendment Law and/or Litigation and family or childrens law is currently needed.

The Project Reporter must have excellent research and writing skills with competency in effective oral communication.

The Initiative provides a non-partisan review of potential legislation and does not advocate for the adoption or rejection of any specific legislation. Therefore, the Project Reporter must be able to perform duties without partisan bias and without advocacy for specific goals or positions.

The Project Reporter must be able to produce high quality work in a timely manner, adhering to agreed upon deadlines.

The Project Reporter normally will work with assistant project reporters and with a project manager. The Project Reporter must be able to work effectively and collegially with all staff of the South Carolina Law Initiative.
