Role Purpose The Senior Scientist - Applied Mechanics is responsible for developing and applying modeling tools for solving process and product design problems. Candidate will develop, validate, and apply numerical models to solve structural mechanics, fractural mechanics, brittle material reliability, and other applied mechanics problems. These models will help to understand physics, generate new concepts, and study design options for different Corning businesses. Candidate must have an in-depth knowledge of solid mechanics, fractural mechanics, reliability and a strong expertise in numerical simulation. Key Responsibilities

Develop, validate, and apply advanced computational models to support product design, process development, and reliability analysis

Apply numerical simulation tools to analyze structural, thermal, and material behavior in complex engineering systems

Collaborate with experimental scientists and engineers to validate models and guide experimental design

Integrate modeling insights with experimental results to drive process optimization and product performance improvements

Partner with cross-functional teams across Research, Development, and Engineering to solve technically complex challenges

Communicate modeling approaches, results, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Document methodologies, results, and key findings in technical reports, presentations, and patent applications
