Compensation Range:

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

This role will be pivotal in using iPSC-derived microglia to investigate HIV neurotoxicity. Supervision of others may be required. Individual must also have strong writing skills and experience with manuscript and figure preparation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Identify/design and interpret experiments related to using iPSC-derived microglia to investigate HIV neurotoxicity.
  • Examine the regulation of HIV infection in microglia.
  • Scientific writing for manuscripts including design and construction of figures, must be facile with Adobe suite and Prism software.
  • Supervision of students and training of laboratory members as needed. Serves as a resource for standard protocols, troubleshooting, and data interpretation.
  • Perform experiments using techniques that include standard virology, molecular biology, and cell biology approaches.
  • Lab management responsibilities, including maintenance of records, ordering, biosafety compliance. Coordinates with and contacts outside vendors and technical representatives for routine equipment maintenance and supply inquiries.
  • Informed about trends in field by reading professional journals, attends/participates in lab meetings, and, as appropriate, external meetings and seminars.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • PhD required
  • 4 years of relevant postdoctoral training or equivalent combination of education and experience required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Virology, cell biology, molecular biology, and neurology; Willingness to be trained; Assay development; Data interpretation and presentation; Ability to troubleshoot as needed; required.
