Your Role:
The Senior Research Scientist demonstrates a high level of proficiency and expertise in the designated scientific area. This role contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects. This position plays a major role in the proposal and development of new projects and programs. The Senior Research Scientist II is responsible for (i) conducting a productive experimental program; (ii) coordinating scientific plans, results, and resources effectively between multiple projects; (iii) communicating results and issues within the projects and the organization effectively; and (iv) leading team efforts and providing substantial intellectual contributions to the problems assigned.Your Profile:

Develop strategies that guide project(s)/program(s)
Propose new initiatives or policies
Assist and lead direct reports and team members in problem-solving and new methodology. Leadership in problem-solving may extend beyond team or other scientists and other labs
May serve as a technical consultant to global project teams
Work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious
Implement work plans; conduct performance reviews and participate in the disciplinary and grievance process, as needed
Ensure employees have access to tools and information for career development opportunities and actively participates in employee growth and development
Plans and delivers on-the-job training
Assignments are often self-initiated
Consult and/or make recommendations in the area of research or program policy through effective verbal and written communication about the research project(s)/program(s)
Co-author/author manuscripts, publications, reports or experimental protocols; serves as primary presenter or author
Collaborates in the conception and design of original research
Writes grants, contracts and/or proposals
Establishes goals and objectives of the project(s)/program(s), sets and changes deadlines
Plans, assigns and analyzes work of others
May prepare and manage grants and/or contracts

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering
Minimum 14-19 years relevant experience
OR
Master's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering
Minimum 12-17 years relevant experience
OR
Ph.D. in relevant or related field
Minimum 8-14 years relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to solve problems and develop new methodology
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community
Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases
Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables
