The Department of Bioengineering in the College of Engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in the area of biomedical engineering (imaging, bioinstrumentation or nanotechnology).The successful candidate will join a research lab focused on developing advanced imaging technologies that overcome fundamental depth-resolution limitations in biological tissues. The research integrates hybrid ultrasound-optical imaging, contrast agent design, and computational reconstruction, with applications in deep-tissue imaging, tumor microenvironment characterization, and functional sensing.This position offers a highly interdisciplinary environment at the interface of biophotonics, ultrasound, nanomaterials, and imaging physics, with opportunities to lead independent research directions and contribute to high-impact publications and future grant proposals..Conduct independent and collaborative research in biomedical imaging and bioengineeringDesign and perform experiments involving optical imaging, ultrasound systems, and/or contrast agentsDevelop computational models and reconstruction algorithms for imaging systemsAnalyze experimental data and prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journalsMentor graduate and undergraduate studentsContribute to proposal development and interdisciplinary research initiativesPerforms other duties as needed.Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biomaterials, Nanotechnology, or a closely related field, with expertise in imaging, instrumentation, or nanomaterials.Strong background in at least one of the following areas:Optical imaging / biophotonicsUltrasound imaging or acousticsNanomaterials / contrast agentsSignal processing or computational imagingDemonstrated research productivity (e.g., peer-reviewed publications)Strong communication and teamwork skills.Experience with hybrid imaging systems (e.g., ultrasound-optical, photoacoustic, or related modalities)Experience with stimuli-responsive nanomaterials (e.g., thermosensitive liposomes, polymer nanoparticles, microgels)Programming experience in MATLAB, Python, or similar platformsHands-on experience with instrumentation, electronics, or system integrationAbility or interest in leading independent research directions
