The Associate Scientist will be responsible for performing routine testing in support of manufacturing, R D, and client projects in a timely manner. With multiple ongoing collaborations, priorities can shift quickly, and the candidate must be able to adjust nimbly. Good communication and time management skills are critical to meeting company expectations and goals. The associate scientist is expected to work independently with guidance from their supervisor and in a group setting, working closely with other scientists to communicate laboratory activities and updates on projects. Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Prepare samples for testing and perform analytical testing such as: UV-Vis, HPLC, GC-FID, Karl Fischer Analysis. Evaluate the results of experiments and determine what those results mean based on current Standard Operating Procedures. Analyze information for technical correctness and accuracy. Eager to learn new techniques and perform analysis for new formulations of proteins. Competencies/Essential Skills Research Methods: Requires ability to learn of a variety of experimental techniques. Analytical skills: Attention to detail and critical thinking is essential to understand, interpret, integrate, and communicate various research and development results. An understanding of statistical analysis/data interpretation is required. Problem Solving Skills: Ability to address and adapt to problems quickly. Computer and Technical Skills: Highly competent in using Excel for data analysis and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Organizational skills: Ability to manage personal timelines and prioritize tasks to ensure projects are meeting goals. Must be flexible and willing to work in an environment where priorities can change week to week. Written and verbal communication skills: Ability to convey information to others in a clear and understandable manner. Role requires frequent communication with scientists, engineers, and managers to explain their research and development processes. Time Management: Must effectively utilize the time given to complete tasks that are assigned. Should be able to learn to manage/schedule multiple priorities and adhere to deadlines. Minimum Required Education and/or Experience BS in relevant physical/biologic scientific field (e.g., Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, etc.). Industry experience required, and chromatography experience preferred. Relevant internship experience is acceptable. Supervisory Responsibilities None Travel Occasional local business travel required. Physical Demands This job primarily operates in both a professional office setting and a research laboratory setting. Frequent use of standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copiers, and scanners. Must be able to bend, lift, and carry up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
