Department of Pharmacology & Cancer Biology is looking for a Research Associate, Senior to work alongside Dr. Michael Kastan in research projects.
Minimum Requirements:
- Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g. Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M.).
- The appointee must have greater than 5 years of postdoctoral or equivalent training.

You will be involved in the department's research activities as follows:
- Perform scientific experiments, including, but not limited to, the following techniques:
- Mammalian cell culture
- Cloning/subcloning/targeted mutagenesis
- Protein assays, especially immunoblots and immunoprecipitations
- RT-PCR and RNA analyses
- Cell transfections and selections
- Cell survival assays
- Flow cytometry
- Other cell/molecular biology techniques as appropriate
- Partner with the PI in directing the scientific directions of the laboratory, including expectations to regularly read and interpret relevant scientific literature
- General
- Keep up with regulatory processes (animal, safety, radiation protocols, SOPs, etc)
- Orienting and participating in oversight of laboratory members, including students, post-doctoral fellows and technicians
- Maintaining personal laboratory records and ensuring lab records of other members is appropriate
- Communicating regularly with the PI and laboratory members
- Interface with other Duke scientists, including core laboratories
