As an Orion Materials and Processes Engineer youll work on a broad range of projects, in both a laboratory and manufacturing environment, that will challenge you to learn and grow in your career. Working side by side with design, manufacturing, and quality engineers, youll use your education, experience and growing expertise to develop and evaluate new and innovative technology to survive in the most hostile of space environments.

In this role you will:
Perform Materials and Processes (M&P) technical engineering assignments
Troubleshoot problems and find innovative solutions
Prepare technical reports, specifications, evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports.
Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement.
Lead technical projects with engineering teams, to meet program objectives

We're looking for:
A self-starter who develops solutions to technical issues
A motivated individual who's able to work closely within a geographically diverse team to resolve technical issues
Someone with the ability to handle shifting priorities, multiple projects and timeline pressure to meet deadlines
The ability to work with management and program representatives at several levels
Technical leadership of cross-functional projects
Ability to travel periodically as needed for assignments ~10%

Learn more about Lockheed Martins comprehensive benefits package. Experience establishing and implementing technical requirements (specifications, program plans/requirements, etc.).
Experience in composite materials and processes such as composites, adhesives, bonding, failure analysis, and/or manufacturing operations.
Knowledge of Materials and Processes for product development, improvement, design, application and production.
Experience with engineering drawings and/or specifications or reports, and providing guidance to engineers or stakeholders Bachelors degree from an accredited university in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other related discipline.
Familiarity with NASA or military specifications and Engineering requirements
Experience with LM corporate tools and/or LM Space PMP tools, command media and personnel
Knowledge of environmental and operational requirements for materials in space applications (flammability, dissimilar metals, stress corrosion, etc.)
Experience with Material Review Board processes and Quality tracking systems.
Strong analytical and organizational skills
