Chemist - Job Description Overview The Chemist will perform qualitative and quantitative analyses on a variety of sample types to support new product development. This role includes assisting in method development, maintaining laboratory instrumentation, and ensuring compliance with laboratory protocols. The Chemist will also contribute to protocol and report writing, data interpretation, and general laboratory support activities. Key Responsibilities Analytical Testing & Method Development Perform routine and non-routine qualitative and quantitative analyses of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using techniques such as: FTIR ICP-MS LC-UV / LC-MS GC-FID / GC-MS Develop, improve, and validate analytical methods in compliance with regulatory standards. Support product development through analytical testing, compatibility studies, and development plans. Apply strong chemistry knowledge to method development, data interpretation, and troubleshooting. Documentation & Compliance Prepare and review technical documentation, including: Protocols Reports Data sheets Ensure all analytical work complies with: cGMP requirements Regulatory standards Laboratory safety practices Document deviations and variances appropriately. Apply regulatory standards to drug and device testing. Collaboration & Technical Communication Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the Drug Delivery Systems group. Contribute to multiple concurrent projects. Assist in preparing scientific presentations and research articles. Support both strategic and tactical operations of the analytical department. Laboratory Operations & Problem Solving Independently troubleshoot and resolve analytical issues; recommend preventive solutions. Prepare reagents and solutions. Perform general laboratory tasks, including: Equipment maintenance Cleaning Sample and standard preparation Laboratory housekeeping Support laboratory investigations and continuous improvement initiatives. Required Skills Analytical chemistry expertise Experience with: GC-MS ICP-MS LC / LC-MS HPLC FTIR GC-FID Data analysis and interpretation Familiarity with GMP environments Mass spectrometry and gas chromatography knowledge Top Skills Analytical Chemistry GC-MS ICP-MS Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry (or related field) 3-4 years of hands-on experience with analytical chemistry techniques, including mass spectrometry Preferred Experience Experience developing analytical methods and performing material or product characterization in academic or industry settings Proficiency with advanced analytical instrumentation: FTIR LC-UV / LC-MS GC-FID / GC-MS ICP-MS Strong background in analytical chemistry with practical laboratory experience Ability to interpret complex analytical data and apply quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques Experience Level Intermediate Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Northridge, CA.
