A Global Chemical / Resins company seeks a R&D Scientist for their Research facility in the Cleveland, Oh area.

EXPERIENCE: MS or Phd in Polymer Chemistry or related with 7-12 years of experience in research of ideally PVC resins but will look at other polymers and surfactants. Must have experience polymer characterization has functioned in research in product and process development

2. MAIN PURPOSE ( Briefly state the job's overall objective)

Responsible for leading, designing and conducting experiments toward development or improvement of custom PVC homopolymers and copolymer resins. Responsible for developing a product development plan, project time lines, manufacturing processes, data analysis, and communication of results. Ten plus years direct relevant experience with the ability to interact, present and influence cross functionally and globally both internally and externally with customers. Performs independently and effectively facilitate others to achieve results in a matrix environment. Demonstrated ability to influence and present effectively at the VP/GM level .

6. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads new PVC resin technology innovation and development initiatives via experimental design, product testing, and data analysis.

Provide manufacturing support for existing products and processes at all their sites.

Involement in process improvement and technology transfer initiatives as they may arise.

Aware of PVC technology trends and able to provide unique, patentable, and unsolicited solutions for customers.

Participate in global, cross-functional projects for the development of scale up, process testing plan and procedure, data analysis, and/or communication of results.

Polymer Synthesis, preferably with PVC

Stage gate process for new product launches

Lean Six Sigma or eqvt desirable

Exposure to Cost Management

Plastics Industry experience, preferably PVC

Exposure to Design of Experiment ( DOE)

3 years experience in the following:

Supervisory experience desirable, not essential
