About the role

The Medical Principal Scientist is an owner and key connector of Haleons Wellness science to our consumer. This will be accomplished via breakthrough claims, robust scientific substantiation, and meaningful science storytelling for one or more innovation territories across Multivitamins & Minerals (MVM) and Digestive Health. This role shapes and executes evidence generation towards superiority and communication strategies, ensuring credible assets can be scaled for Operating Units globally.

Role Responsibilities

  • Shape and execute global claims and scientific communication strategy for one or more innovation territories across MVM and Digestive Health.

  • Partner with Wellness Category R&D teams, Operating Units, Global Commercial, Regulatory, Consumer Science, Legal and Advanced Research to design integrated evidence and communication strategies for Global Wellness Technical Platform programs.

  • Lead evidence generation and substantiation activities in support of Global Wellness Technical Platform programs with focus towards superiority of consumer claims and IP.

  • Translate scientific and clinical evidence into key claims, substantiation packages, and validated communication messages tailored for different markets.

  • Develop and execute science/medical communication plans (i.e., CME, Ad Boards, Congresses) and scientific messaging as deemed appropriate.

  • Deliver readytodeploy claims and communication toolkits including messaging frameworks, visuals, videos, demos, and content in partnership with Global Expert.

  • Ensure alignment between science, claims, and communication to strengthen perceived efficacy, trust, and brand differentiation globally.

  • Lead crossfunctional teams to ensure highquality, ontime delivery across the innovation portfolio.

Other Responsibilities

  • Stay aware of the competitive claims landscape and new modalities for evidence generation including RWE, Digital/Decentral, devices/diagnostics and/or rapid consumer studies and how to apply that knowledge when assessing new product opportunities.

  • Partners with a credible external network of KOL in MVM, Digestive Health and Clinical Science.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in biomedical/health sciences/nutritional sciences.

  • Demonstrated proficiency to connect consumer needs to scientific outcomes that progresses to breakthrough claims.
  • Experience developing, leading and owning evidence generation strategies that deliver bold, superior claims and scientific substantiation in a regulated health or consumer health environment.
  • Proven ability to translate complex scientific evidence into clear, compelling, compliant claims and communication.
  • Experience working crossfunctionally with Legal, Commercial, and other R&D teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence team direction without direct line management and ability to adapt to rapid pace of innovation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD, MS/RDN, MD, PharmD or similarly trained healthcare professional with certifications relevant to Wellness consumers (e.g. RDN, LDN, DCN, etc.).

  • 5+ years of experience in Medical/Scientific Affairs related role in pharma/consumer healthcare/food/dietary supplement industry.

  • Familiarity with Board of Health guidelines on allowable claims and ingredients (including but not limited to the collocated regional BOH).

  • Strong background in interpretation, evaluation, translation, and communication of science for consumer and healthcare professional audiences.

  • Knowledge and expertise in human nutrition research, naturals/dietary supplements, and/or health & wellness preferred.

  • Demonstrated strong scientific storytelling capability across visual and digital formats.

  • Existing publication and presentation record in peer reviewed journals and congresses.

  • Experience operating across global portfolios and multiple markets.

  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and Operating Units.

  • Comfortable operating in fastpaced, innovationdriven environments.

Location: This role may be based in based in Warren, NJ, or Richmond, VA and follows a hybrid model, requiring an in-office presence of 3 days per week minimum.

Compensation: The salary range for this role is: $161,919 - $222,638 plus a 18% on-target bonus.
