We advance science so that we all have more time with the people we love.
Genentech's Translational Medicine OMNI (TM OMNI) Department supports the entire R&D portfolio of novel therapies in Ophthalmology, Metabolism, Neuroscience, Immunology, and Infectious Diseases (OMNI). We develop and implement biomarker strategies to study disease pathways, confirm a therapeutic's mechanism of action, and improve clinical trial efficiency and success. Additionally, we lead reverse translation efforts, leveraging clinical data to support target discovery.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Scientist 4 to join Genentechs Translational Medicine (TM) team on-site at our South San Francisco campus. The candidate will collaborate with scientists across R&D to provide biomarker support for ophthalmology programs across different stages of drug development while also generating insights for the next generation of ophthalmology drug targets. The role will cover: 1) Analysis and interpretation of large-scale -omics datasets from clinical and preclinical studies to enable biomarker discovery and reverse translation; 2) Assay development to support biomarker assessment in clinical and preclinical studies.
As an integral member of our dynamic team, you will:
Analyze large scale -omics datasets (proteomics, lipidomics, transcriptomics) generated from clinical and preclinical sample testing.
Discover candidate targets based on interpretation of -omics data and a deep understanding of disease biology.
Develop, qualify, and validate custom immunoassays (e.g., ELISA, Simoa, NULISA) against biomarkers of interest to support pipeline programs (goes beyond running commercial assay kits).
Clearly and concisely communicate findings internally and externally through written reports, publications, and presentations.
Coordinate interdepartmental and external collaborations.
Who You Are
The ideal candidate will have:
A PhD degree in Biological Sciences with 7+ years of relevant experience. Both wet lab skills and bioinformatics experience are required. Industry experience is preferred.
A strong record of high-impact publications.
Excellent teamwork, communication, time management, organization skills, and ability to work independently.
Excellent oral and written presentation skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and a passion for drug discovery and development.
