Job Title:Research AssociateDepartment:FAES | Molecular and Cellular Imaging Lab

Position Duties:

Conduct research/ Generate data

  • Work under limited supervision, with minor guidance from senior staff and the facility director, while operating with increasing independence in assigned responsibilities.
  • Perform specialized molecular biology and genomics experiments, with a primary focus on preparing DNA samples for sequencing using high-throughput sequencers, including platforms such as Illumina (MiSeq, NextSeq) and Oxford Nanopore (MinION).
  • Participates in experimental design, data interpretation, and troubleshooting of experiments. Participate in meetings with users of the core facility to discuss projects.
  • Use specialized instrumentation and advanced methodologies such as high-throughput DNA sequencers, automated liquid handlers, and PCR, real-time PCR and ddPCR equipment.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to users of the core facility on usage of core facility equipment.

Laboratory Maintenance

  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks on equipment and assist laboratory inventory, including ordering supplies as needed.
  • Keep detailed records of all conducted lab work and prepare data summaries and reports.
  • Participate in publications and in the development and improvement of laboratory workflows.

Other

  • Remain current in genetics and molecular biology technologies and techniques by participating in research activities with faculty, seminars, workshops, training sessions, and by reviewing relevant literature.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

The position is located on Ohio States Wooster campus and is fully in-person.

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelors degree in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or a similar field or equivalent experience. 3 years of relevant laboratory experience in molecular biology and genetics research with an Associate's degree or 1 year with a Bachelor's. Effective written and verbal English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Masters degree in any of the above mentioned disciplines.

The offer for this position will fall within the positions pay range based on internal equity, units available budget, and the candidates qualifications
