Material Lab Technician

Our SoftGoods Materials lab is seeking an engineering technician with an aptitude for fast-paced, hands-on testing and characterization. You will work closely with our engineers to evaluate the properties of materials that go into our products, such as textiles, nonwovens, laminate structures, leathers, and adhesives. • Experience with laboratory testing and measurement equipment, such as load frames (e.g., Instron), calipers, or microscopes, as well as sample preparation for similar testing
• Strong drive and passion to provide accurate data with attention to detail, and ability to execute repetitive manual test procedures
• Hands-on experience with analytical chemistry tools (FTIR, DSC, TGA, DMA, TMA) is a plus
• Proficient in using Excel, Keynote, and basic word processing
• Comfort working both independently and collaboratively on tight deadlines in a supportive environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Prior work experience at client or in client's industry

Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2

• Ability to juggle multiple projects for several customers in a given week
• Associates or higher degree in chemistry, physics, engineering, or related scientific/technical field

• Perform test set-up, sample preparation, and data collection in accordance with test standards
• Perform preliminary data analysis and create Keynote slides with initial conclusions, where appropriate
• Input data collected into our organization’s database for use by materials and modeling engineers
• Fabricate fixtures and equipment as needed. Write programming scripts when necessary
• Assist with lab maintenance and equipment upkeep on occasion
