Associate Scientist - Process Development (Onsite)
Cambridge, MA
Monday-Friday, 8-5 (flexible) | 100% onsite
Pay: 19-22/hr
Summarized Purpose
The Associate Scientist supports process development activities for large molecule drug substances, with a focus on vaccine programs. Under general supervision, this role executes and optimizes experimental protocols, performs downstream purification and analytical characterization, and contributes to data interpretation and scientific reporting. The position provides hands-on exposure to process development, scale-up, and tech transfer within a regulated GMP/GLP environment.
Essential Functions
Design and execute experiments supporting process development, optimization, scale-up, and tech transfer for vaccine development programs
Develop and refine processes using literature review, scientific principles, and input from subject matter experts
Performanic reactions and purify intermediates/products independently
Conduct analytical characterization of intermediates and drug substances (e.g., NMR, MS, HPLC, SEC/MALS)
Analyze experimental data and summarize findings for internal reporting
Support tech transfer activities to GMP manufacturing sites
Maintain accurate documentation in lab notebooks and electronic systems inpliance with GMP/GLP standards
Prepare technical reports in collaboration with cross-functional teams (QA, RA, MSAT, ARD)
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation; assist in training others as needed
Ensure proper archiving of raw and processed data according topany policy
Perform additional duties as required to support project needs
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
0-2 years of relevant laboratory experience (academic or industry)
Equivalentbinations of education and experience may be considered
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Exposure to process development preferred
Knowledge of carbohydrate chemistry or syntheticanic chemistry a plus
Familiarity with analytical techniques such as NMR, MS, HPLC, SEC/MALS preferred
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Effective written and verbalmunication skills
Ability to maintain accurate scientific records (ELN experience preferred)
