Scientist II
Position Overview:
As a leader in plant biological process innovations, you will drive the design and execution of critical research in greenhouse corn production. This role requires you to organize, document, and report research outcomes, partner with patent science to secure intellectual property, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement research findings. You will be responsible for leading projects that fulfill product development pipelines for Crop Science, providing project leadership, and sharing technical expertise. Your ability to troubleshoot and optimize research procedures will be crucial, as will your development of key technical and business relationships to stay at the forefront of technology.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the design of plant biological process innovations and solve critical challenges in greenhouse corn production;
- Execute research design and analysis for high-quality, data-driven decisions;
- Organize, document, and report research outcomes promptly;
- Partner with patent science to capture intellectual property and secure freedom to operate for novel concepts;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new concepts and implement research outcomes;
- Manage projects to deliver products and fulfill product development pipelines for Crop Science;
- Provide project leadership and share technical expertise through matrix relationships;
- Communicate timely status updates and troubleshoot to optimize research procedures;
- Develop and maintain technical and business relationships, staying updated on leading-edge technologies.
WHO YOU ARE:
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
- PhD with 3 years, MS with 5 years, or BS with 7 years of relevant experience;
- Specialized knowledge in relevant technology areas and experience in conducting research projects;
- Ability to identify research opportunities and technical innovations aligned with business objectives;
- Proven track record of managing complex scientific projects and communicating study findings;
- Creativity in problem-solving and applying state-of-the-art know-how to solve complex problems;
- Experience mentoring peers and implementing new technologies for process improvement;
- Research expertise in applied controlled environment plant physiology and assay development;
- Experience with crops such as corn and soybean in controlled environments;
- Strong publication record and experience in patent search and application writing.
