Job Function
Are you ready to make your mark in the world of color technology? Join our innovative team in Color Solutions as a Color Scientist, where you'll play a pivotal role in advancing our color technology. This position offers the opportunity to lead exciting projects, collaborate with customers, and make a significant impact on our commercial success. The position will be based out of Ashtabula, Ohio and will be responsible for providing color technology leadership in support of the Americas region.
Responsibilities
Manage projects to facilitate both internal and customer use of Vibrantz colorant dispersions. Design, plan, and execute projects, ensuring timely completion to meet requirements and expectations.
Create and maintain color technology competencies in terms of instrumentation, electronic formulation tools, formulary files and color measurements.
Develop and train the technical organization and customers in state-of-the-art color practices for colorant dispersion use with color formulation software , which includes the development of colorant databases and implementation of color procedures.
Lead color work , transforming opportunities and resolving challenges through color science techniques.
Maintain clear and proactive communication at every project stage, including progress reports, updates, and milestone achievements.
Partner with commercial sales on customer visits to explore exciting collaboration and /or conversion opportunities.
Develops and maintains current knowledge of color technology, pigments, coating chemistries, and their applications.
Create and deliver compelling presentations and reports to both internal and external stakeholders.
Champion safety by adhering to regulations, attending safety meetings and training, inspecting work areas, and initiating corrective actions. Report any injuries, illnesses, or environmental incidents promptly.
Keep detailed lab notebooks to organize, analyze, and record your innovative work products.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
BS/BA in a relevant field of science, such as color science, physics, ma terials science , chemical engineering, or chemistry.
3 + years of industry experience in coatings in combination with color technology. Other experience may be considered with a strong color technology background .
Proficien cy in color theory, color measurement, color matching, color formulation software, and spectrophotometers.
General understanding of pigment and carrier types / chemistries a plus.
Proficient computer skills: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Willingness to travel up to 25%.
Preferred Experience
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex projects.
Familiarity with statistical analysis and data interpretation.
Excellent interpersonal skills; experience interfacing with customer a plus.
Possess communication skills to provide presentations and to write in a clear and concise manner.
Have successfully worked in a close team environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and mathematical aptitude .
Experience with Microsoft servers, Amazon client, coding experience, desktop sharing programs and knowledge of computing systems is beneficial .
Adobe Creative Suite knowledge is a plus .
