Job Duties and Responsibilities

DISH is seeking a Java API Software Engineer who will be responsible for managing the entire life-cycle of APIs, from design and development to deployment and maintenance. You will work with various application teams to understand their business needs and requirements for API implementation. In addition, you will ensure that API documentation is up-to-date and lead development reviews to ensure that code and design quality is maintained. You will also troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the API platform, participate in root cause analysis for production issues, and contribute to grooming technical user stories impacting integration. We are looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced Java API Software Engineer with a passion for delivering high-quality, scalable, and secure API solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop scalable, secure API specifications using OpenAPI/YAML.

  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for API deployment and lifecycle support.

  • Collaborate with application teams to gather requirements and implement business-driven API solutions.

  • Maintain accurate API documentation and ensure quality through code reviews, monitoring, and security standards.

  • Troubleshoot API-related issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive solutions.

  • Contribute to technical story grooming and integration efforts using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, DynamoDB, and third-party services (e.g., Subsentio, Smarty Streets, Likewize, Wavelo).


Skills, Experience and Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in the technical field, or a combination of experience and education
  • 3+ years of experience in the development, and implementation of enterprise-wide solutions based on Java Technologies
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with design, development, and implementation of Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Integration, or Node.js-based Microservices

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills with experience collaborating across global technical teams.

  • Proficient in Agile methodologies (Kanban, SCRUM) and test-driven development using tools like GitLab and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experienced in deploying microservices (Spring Boot, Node.js) using Docker and Kubernetes on AWS, including services like Lambda and Step Functions.

  • Skilled in API development and management with tools like Swagger/Swagger Hub, Apigee, and integration of REST APIs with third-party services (Subsentio, Smarty Streets, Likewize, Wavelo).

  • Deep understanding of security protocols (OAuth, SAML), governance, caching, and event-driven/message-based architectures using Kafka (Confluent/Apache).

  • Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, DynamoDB, and managing scalable systems critical to product ordering and inventory operations.


Salary Ranges

Compensation: $72,400.00/Year - $103,400.00/Year
