DCI Laboratory, founded in 1988 as a division of Dialysis Clinic, Inc., is a full service laboratory responding specifically to the needs of dialysis patients. Our laboratory division was established in response to nephrologists' request for personnel and instrumentation in tune with the dialysis community.

The Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist - Chemistry, under the direction of the Laboratory Director and under the supervision of the Department Supervisor, assists in the day-to-day supervision of laboratory personnel and the reporting of test results. Supervises the proper performance of laboratory procedures and the reporting of test results in the absence of the Department Supervisor/ Technical Supervisor and Laboratory Director.

Schedule: Full-Time; 4-10hr shifts per week; shifts start at 7am

Responsibilities

Technical and Quality Assurance Responsibilities:

Assists in the day-to-day, on-site supervision of department testing by laboratory Accessible (in person or by telephone or electronic means) to department personnel, in the absence of the Department Supervisor, at all times testing is performed to provide consultation to resolve technical problems. Interacts, as needed, with clients to solve problems.

Monitors and documents daily review of test analyses, interpretations, and specimen examinations to ensure acceptable levels of analytic performance are

Monitors and documents review of routine and non-routine instrument maintenance and calibrations and QC and QA

Maintains testing proficiency in the laboratory area(s)/department assigned and performs all aspects of testing and reporting, according to SOP's.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Assists in the supervision of Medical Technologists, Medical Lab Technicians, and Clinical Lab Assistants assigned to the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable

If authorized by the Director or Technical Supervisor, ensures: that all remedial actions are taken and documented; that patient test results are not reported unless the test system is functioning properly; that all laboratory personnel are provided orientation; and, that the performance of laboratory personnel is evaluated and documented.

Qualifications

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must possess a current state license as a Tennessee Medical Laboratory Supervisor - General. A nationally recognized certification in the clinical laboratory profession is preferred.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree in medical technology from a four-year college or university which includes the completion of an approved medical laboratory technologist training program.

Plus, the required years of clinical experience required for a supervisor in the state in which the employee works (e.g., 6 years' experience for testing samples from NYS).

OR Bachelor's degree in a science and clinical laboratory training/experience which meets the education and/or experience requirements for a supervisor in the state in which the employee works.

Experience in a high volume lab and experience with Roche Cobas Pro Integrated Chemistry Automation is preferred.
