Postdoctoral Scientist - Cancer/Epigenetics

Dr. Alex Bishop's Lab Post-Doctoral Scientist position - This position is in the Center for Childhood Cancer Research in Dr. Alex Bishop's lab. Our team is focused on understanding the underlying biology that is dysregulated in Ewing sarcoma with the long term goal of identifying therapeutic vulnerabilities. The postdoc is expected to take a lead role in a project involving examination of R-loops, epigenetics, RNA polymerase, transcriptional bursting, differentiation and proliferation using molecular cell biology, genomics, single cell and microscopic techniques applied to investigating Ewing sarcoma. Experience in some or all of these areas is desirable. You can read more about the center at the link below: Center for Childhood Cancer Research Essential Functions Designs experiments, develops protocols, and conducts research under the guidance of a faculty mentor. Assists in the training and supervision of technical support staff in performing specific techniques essential to carrying out the research program. Records and analyzes data generated by the research study. Assists in the development of hypotheses for further investigation from the results of the studies performed. Assists with the preparation of scientific and technical papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Presents findings at local and national research forums. Collaborates with other ongoing research efforts either at NCH or at The Ohio State University. Works toward research independence, preparing to submit proposals to and obtain funding from external granting agencies. Education PhD or equivalent degree in relevant field of science, required.
