Research Associate (Chemical Engineering)

Polymer Processing Institute is seeking a Research Engineer (Chemical Engineering) in Newark, NJ.Job Description: Assist in research and testing to evaluate and enhance certain material properties of polymeric materials. Design and conduct material engineering studies involving 1) rheometric characterization analysis using instruments such as Capillary rheometer, Rheometric Mechanical Spectrometer, and Melt Flow Indexer; 2) Mechanical characterization analysis using instruments such as tensile tester and dynamic mechanical analyzer; 3) Thermal characterization analysis using instruments such as Differential Scanning Calorimeter and Thermogravimetric Analyzer; and 4) Chemical characterization analysis using instruments such as Gas Chromatograph, High-Performance Liquid Chromatograph, and Karl Fischer Titration. Draft technical reports compiling findings. Perform day-to-day lab operations related to the experimental setup, changeover, and general maintenance of instruments and equipment.
