Job DescriptionObjective / Purpose: .
- The Global Drug Metabolism, Pharmacokinetics and Modeling (DMPK&M) department at Takeda is seeking a strong candidate to be a part of the Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling team for supporting drug-drug interaction (DDI) and PK prediction in Takedas global research and development pipeline for all therapeutic areas
- The candidate is expected to have demonstrated experience in conducting PBPK modeling using Simcyp, Gastroplus, PKSim or other relevant software
Accountabilities:
A successful candidate will be responsible for the design and implementation of PBPK models for small molecules and biotherapeutics supporting discovery and development programs. The accountabilities of this role include but are not limited to
- Develop the PBPK framework for preclinical species and humans in Simcyp, Gastroplus, Matlab, Phoenix or other relevant software
- Apply the models to new chemical entities for understanding tissue distribution to inform drug-target coverage and safety margins, predicting absorption and PK, and evaluating the impact of drug-drug interactions
- Predict PK in special populations (e.g. hepatic or renal impairment patients, pediatrics, pregnant population, diseased population, etc.)
- As required, develop novel PBPK models to answer mechanistic questions.
- Collaborate with multi-functional project teams and functional group colleagues to identify data requirements for model development, and strategies for model application and use.
Education & Competencies (Technical and Behavioral):
- PhD degree with 3+ years relevant experience, Or MS with 9+ years relevant experience, or BS with 11+ years relevant experience in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacology or other relevant field
- Strong understanding of the concepts of, and prior experience in PBPK modeling
- Strong training and understanding of the concepts of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics of diverse modalities (e.g. small molecules, biotherapeutics), biochemical aspects of drug metabolism enzymes and transporters, and various in vitro assays conducted to assess DDI potential
- Proficient in one or more of the following modeling and simulation software Simcyp, Gastroplus, PK-Sim, Matlab and/or Simbiology, R, Phoenix, Berkley Madonna, ADAPT, Mathematica or other relevant software
- Track record of publication and / or conference presentations
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal communication and writing skills
- Good organizational and planning skills
- Proven record of accomplishment of teamwork, adaptability, innovation, initiative, and integrity
- Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills

Boston, MAU.S. Base Salary Range:
$137,000.00 - $215,270.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained , certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
