We are seeking a New Product Development (NPD) Metallurgist to drive innovation in brazing product and process development. This role plays a critical part in advancing metallurgical science into scalable, manufacturable, and market-ready solutions. The ideal candidate will collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams, applying deep materials expertise to develop and launch new products. The NPD Metallurgist will be responsible for supporting the development and commercialization of new brazing products and processes. This role bridges metallurgical expertise with cross-functional collaboration in engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams to accelerate innovation and deliver new solutions to market.

How Would You Accomplish This?

  • Lead metallurgical aspects of new product development, including alloy design, thermal processing, and failure analysis.
  • Develop and implement test plans, including metallurgical characterization (e.g., microstructure analysis, hardness, tensile, DSC, etc.).
  • Partner with engineering and production teams to scale new products from lab to production.
  • Evaluate and qualify raw materials and new suppliers for development projects.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to understand customer requirements and translate them into metallurgical solutions.
  • Support patent applications through documentation of metallurgical innovations and data.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging metallurgical technologies and competitive products.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety and quality standards throughout development activities.
  • Support application engineering audits, studies, recommendations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Are We Looking For?

  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field (Master's or PhD preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in metallurgy or materials development, preferably in an R&D or NPD environment.
  • Strong understanding of physical metallurgy, alloy systems, and thermal processing.
  • Experience with metallurgical lab techniques and tools (e.g., SEM, EDS, optical microscopy, XRD).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Writing of technical reports for both internal and external customers.
