Quality Control Lab Technician
Job Description

The Quality Control Lab Technician is responsible for conducting all quality control testing in the laboratory to ensure the company's products comply with established specifications. This role involves using a variety of advanced instrumentation and analytical techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct tests using Gas Chromatography, Liquid Chromatography, UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, Infra-red Spectrophotometer, and pH analysis.
  • Perform determination tests, FTIR, residue after evaporation testing, fluorescents testing, and optical absorption.
  • Utilize analytical techniques such as Gas Chromatography (GC), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and Spectroscopy (IR and UV) to analyze samples.
  • Apply wet chemistry methods for sample analysis.
  • Review, interpret, and summarize analytical data.
  • Document analytical results following good documentation practices.
  • Communicate effectively within the QC team and with cross-functional teams.
  • Set up daily standards, daily KF calibrations, and special purpose laboratory equipment to test products.
  • Plan testing sequences for incoming samples.
  • Participate actively in the quality management team within the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in chemistry, quality assurance, and laboratory techniques.
  • Experience with wet chemistry, titration, and viscosity measurement.
  • Strong analytical skills for raw material testing, in-process analysis, and finished goods testing.
  • Ability to work with chemical manufacturing processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Preferably a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • Entry-level candidates with strong chemistry lab work in school or internship experience are encouraged.
  • Candidates with an Associate's degree in Science and 1+ years of industry chemistry experience qualify.
  • Candidates without a degree but with 2-3 years of recent industry experience in a chemistry laboratory setting and a high school diploma are also considered.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures and test methods.
  • Comfortable working independently.
Work Environment

The position is based in a QC lab within a chemical manufacturing plant. The team consists of one other technician and a supervisor. During the training period, work hours are Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. After training, the schedule shifts to a 2-2-3 rotating 12-hour shift from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. The dress code includes jeans and a plain shirt with PPE. The company is experiencing rapid growth, offering opportunities for upward mobility and career advancement. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
