Position Overview: In this role, you will conduct advanced processing operations aimed at the purification of organic materials through cutting-edge distillation systems. You will be responsible for handling various chemical substances, performing in-depth analyses of their compositions, and maintaining meticulous batch process documentationall while contributing to our commitment to environmental sustainability.Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and optimize distillation apparatus, ensuring the effective operation of heating, cooling, vacuum, and pressure systems.
- Precisely transport, weigh, mix, and pump a variety of chemical substances, adhering to strict protocols.
- Employ analytical instrumentation to assess the quality of distillation fractions and final products; analyze and interpret data to confirm compliance with established standards, and modify processes in the event of deviations.
- Monitor vital process parameters to ensure optimal product quality, yield, and consistency across batches; identify opportunities for enhancement and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in the preparation of comprehensive test results and technical reports as required.
- Uphold highest safety and maintenance standards for all technology, equipment, and laboratory environments.
- Maintain an organized and sanitary workspace to ensure both safety and operational efficiency.
- Provide mentorship and support to Distillation Technicians and junior Analytical Chemists, serving as a resource for training and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related discipline from an accredited institution is preferred.
- 2 to 5 years of practical experience in distillation and analytical chemistry techniques.
- A solid understanding of vacuum distillation principles and proficiency in gas chromatography analysis.
- An Associates degree may be acceptable if coupled with significant hands-on experience and specialized training.
Work Environment:
- The role may involve exposure to hazardous materials and vapors, necessitating strict adherence to safety protocols and industry-standard training.
Physical Requirements:
- Capable of handling containers using mechanical assistance; tasks may include moving heavy 55-gallon drums (up to 700 lbs.) and lifting 5-gallon containers (up to 44 lbs.).
- Must be comfortable with climbing stairs and using ladders and capable of standing or walking for extended periods (more than four hours daily).
