Inova Research Center Molecular Lab is seeking a dedicated Research Scientist 1 to join the team. This role will be a full-time rotating shift; days vary.

Research Scientist 1 Job Responsibilities:

  • Researches, develops and employs appropriate data collection and methodology to maximize collection efficiency and minimize collection bias within specific project timelines.
  • Develops investigator-initiated protocols for the conduct of research investigations, independently or in collaboration with other investigators, to support the goals of the department according to project objectives.
  • Collaborates with other investigators in the design/development of adequate data collection and management systems to affect desired study outcomes.
  • Performs, interprets and reviews all tests done in section according to standard operating procedures and policies (SOPP) by using scientific knowledge of the principles of test procedures and disease processes.
  • Directs the daily technical operations of the section while maintaining quality standards and procedures to meet CAP, The Joint Commission, AABB, CLIA and other regulatory agency requirements.
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives as requested and submits quarterly quality assurance reports for section.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Work schedule: Days vary; shift vary.
  • Education: Bachelors Degree in Science or relevant field of study.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of experience in common genomic and proteomic techniques such as high throughput assays such as microarrays, qPCR, ELISA, Bio-Plex, etc. Demonstrated acuity with statistical and analytical skills necessary to assess data produced by the above techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification: ASCP Medical Laboratory Scientist Certification.
