Job Summary: The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the PhD or other doctoral degree under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee.

Additional Department Summary: The Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering Department at The University of Alabama is seeking candidates for a Postdoctoral position. This position is available to individuals with research interests in low-carbon infrastructure materials and structures, particularly deep decarbonization of cementitious materials through material recycling and CO2 mineralization. The candidate will be advised by Dr. Jialai Wang (...).

Successful candidates will hold a terminal degree in Civil Engineering or a related field and demonstrate a record of academic achievement in research. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon funding.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or other terminal degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. or have it completed by the start of employment. Skills and Knowledge: Experience with cement and concrete chemistry, reinforced concrete structures, computational and solid mechanics.

Preferred Qualifications: Strong analytical skills are beneficial, including but not limited to SEM, TEM, XRD, TGA, FITR, NMR, and ICP-OES, and multiscale characterization of concrete.
