What You'll Do
As a Laboratory Chemist, you will participate and assist with day-to-day laboratory operations by performing all routine quality control tests, non-routine analyses, and by providing technical knowledge to assist plant operations all while maintaining a safe working environment and attitude. Other duties include:
- Demonstrate and/or lead the commitment to the pursuit of achieving Zero Harm through behavioral based safety
- Ensure compliance with applicable HSE performance standards, objectives and regulations
- Live and foster the IPL Corporate Values
- Provide laboratory support to plant operations.
- Perform all analyses required by the Carthage, Missouri Plant.
- Perform all routine quality control tests on all produced materials to include mixed acid, dynamite, emulsion, cast boosters, PETN, nitroglycerin, etc.
- Provide ISO 9001:2008 support for all plant operations
- Maintain Hazmat endorsed CDL license
- Understand shipping requirements for hazardous materials.
- Maintain accurate ATF records for explosive materials, from receipt to interim magazine storage to disposition using the Daily Summary of Magazine Transaction (DSMT) forms.
- Report abnormal test results to the appropriate management personnel (e.g., Process Managers or Environmental Manager).
- Aid when needed to the plant within technical expertise.
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's Degree in chemistry or related field required.
Experience working in a team-orientated, collaborative environment.
2+ years laboratory experience desired.
Knowledge of explosives transportation methodologies.
Knowledge of laboratory equipment including High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatograph (GC), Infra-Red Spectrophotometer (IR), Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AA), and UV-Vis spectrophotometer.
Must be willing to undergo and pass an ATF background check as required to be a possessor of explosives
