Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Research and Evaluation, Research Associate I is responsible for coordination and implementation of research studies, grants, contracts and other projects both within the hospital and on a collaborative basis with other care organizations. The Research Associate I collaborates with members of the research, analytic, and research IT teams to translate grant/contract/project requirements into effective management and execution while also collaborating with the research team on the development and implementation of research projects from conception to dissemination, in order to study medical, psycho-social, and outcome aspects of spinal cord and brain injury.

Position Requirements:

  • Licensure/Certification/Registrations: None
  • Education: BA/BS degree required, Masters-level degree in relevant field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience conducting clinical and/or medical research; preferred or Masters-level degree.
  • Skills & Abilities: Strong management skills, including the ability to mentor junior staff and oversee small teams to complete high-quality work within designated timelines; ability to foster and maintain collaboration with other departments, institutions and programs. Demonstrated excellence in written communication skills. The ability to effectively communicate with people to convey or exchange information. Working knowledge of research methodology and the use of appropriate software to manage data with specialized software knowledge to include bibliographic, statistical, IRBnet, grant submission and management portals. Ability to manage grants, contract preparation and writing responsibilities. Ability to work competently and effectively under stress. Ability to meet frequent deadlines within short timeframes. Excellent organization and customer service skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills, specifically the ability to write clear and concise technical documentation and communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders. Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities and prioritize and schedule accordingly. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Ability to input, access and manage data using appropriate software programs to successfully complete research and training projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Plan, directs, and coordinates the activities of designated projects to ensure that the goals or objectives of assigned projects are accomplished within the prescribed timeframe and funding parameters.
  • Coordinate research studies and or contract procedures for case studies, retrospective analyses and research contracts with research scientist supervision.
  • Coordinate data management per study protocol or contract, including database development, database maintenance, and data dictionary development with research scientist supervision.
  • Evaluate operational components of projects and studies to offer options and solutions to senior staff to mitigate risks to project success.
  • Develop and maintain study and contract-related materials, including case report forms and standards of procedure with supervision from the research scientist.
  • Facilitate appropriate communication between internal and external stakeholders to move grants, contracts and studies forward.
  • Prepare status reports for director, administration, and collaborative institutions.
  • Develop and test data entries using appropriate software specific to each study.
  • Coordinate and maintain regulatory aspects of research to include IRB management and report writing with supervision from the research scientist.
  • Prepare research reports based on findings and literature review.
  • Disseminate information through oral and written presentations.
  • Assist with grant application writing and other assigned writing tasks with supervision from the Research Scientist.
  • Obtain and maintain relevant certifications/licensing necessary to perform job responsibilities, including CITI training.

Pay Range: $27.56/ Hour - $39.68/ Hour
