Job Title: Application Chemist

Job Description

The Applications Chemist will be responsible for developing and testing new fragrance and cosmetic formulations, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards. This role involves close collaboration with the Technical Director, Fragrance Evaluator, and other departments to ensure customer satisfaction and compliance with state guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all Applications Lab work for candles, personal care samples, fine fragrance, home care, and cosmetics.
  • Formulate in-house bases for lotions, detergents, shampoo, candles, deodorant, reed diffuser, and other products.
  • Maintain lab notebooks of samples and stability findings.
  • Work closely with the Technical Director to ensure customer and internal standards are met.
  • Collaborate with the Fragrance Evaluator to complete internal and customer samples.
  • Write SOPs to ensure a safe and productive lab environment.
  • Prepare samples for market research testing.
  • Ensure all stability guidelines and SOPs of state/country are updated and distributed accordingly to employees and clients.
  • Discuss stability findings with customers and determine next steps.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in applications lab work, preferably in the fragrance or cosmetics industry.
  • Strong knowledge of formulation techniques and stability testing.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in fragrance or cosmetics industry is preferred.
  • Proficiency in writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
