We are looking for a Chemical Engineer for our Modesto, CA Plant!

Summary: Provides chemical process engineering support in multiple areas within the manufacturing environment. Implement and manage chemical processes in line with company goals and regulatory demands.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for day-to-day quality control/auditing of the process to ensure that the production and chemical engineering standards are satisfied in the Plant.
  • Provides chemical process support in multiple areas in a manufacturing environment.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the chemical process at the location.
  • Responsible for overall chemical inventory in the Plant. This will involve stocktaking, ordering and ensuring chemical levels are adequate in the Plant.
  • Duties can also include physical testing of samples, chemicals trials, calibration of pumps & other equipment, incoming chemical checks and other lab related activities.
  • Responsible for reporting on the analysis of process parameters, process capability and tests relating to the manufacture of a quality product.
  • Report & work to fix any key findings and chemical/process issues.
  • Communicate with other teams and departments within the business.
  • Write and manage effective up to date SOP’s. Also, responsible for maintaining all chemical material documentation i.e. SDS sheets & TDS sheets.
  • Carry out operator training, maintain detailed records, and ensure follow up & refresher training takes place as required.
  • Ensure site wide compliance with all city, state and federal regulations regarding chemical health & safety and environmental responsibilities.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly KPIs, ops report and other reports/ presentations for meetings/reporting.
  • Responsible for approval authority audits and compliance with the site approval manual.
  • Responsible for housekeeping of the lab as well as other designated chemical areas in the Plant.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent desired with an emphasis in chemical, polymer science, engineering or related technical field. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • At least two years’ experience with products and processes in a manufacturing environment with chemical processing an advantage.
  • Experience with SPC, 6 sigma or other analysis software desirable.
  • Fluency in Spanish required (speaking, reading, writing).

Computer Skills:

  • Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with MS Macros, Visual Basic and other programming languages an asset.

  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Travel is involved for training, so candidate must possess a valid passport and full clean driver’s license.
