Associate scientist

Pay rate: $35 - $40/hr.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute assigned tasks that support upstream cell culture and downstream purification operations.
• Monitor and evaluate process performance data, report and present findings, and proactively seek out senior personnel to discuss potential solutions to problem.
• Work with group members to maintain the lab, including analytical equipment maintenance, inventory and stocking support, and general lab upkeep activities.
• Participate in group meetings and present results, data interpretation and conclusions.
• Demonstrate strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to explain processes used to achieve results of assigned tasks.
• Work with team oriented, collaborative and problem-solving mindset.
• Always work with safety in mind.

Qualification:

• AA/AS with 2+ years or BS/BE with 1+ year of industry experience in cell culture and/or purification required.
• Familiar with cell culture (shake flask, aseptic techniques, Wave and Single-Use Bioreactors)
• Preferred: hands-on reactor sampling and process monitoring
• Knowledge of downstream purification: centrifugation, chromatography, tangential/dead-end filtration
• Experience with AKTA systems; UNICORN software is a plus (trainable)
• Understanding of chromatography operations and resin packing
• Knowledge of cGMPs, tech transfer, and scale-up processes is a plus
• Strong technical writing, verbal communication, and teamwork skills
• Self-motivated, organized, with a scientific mindset
• Experience in clinical manufacturing or pilot labs preferred (not process engineering)
• Ideal fit: Biologics Pilot Lab or GMP Clinical Facility experience
