Amber Bio is a biotechnology company pioneering new gene editing modalities using multi-kilobase edits to reach previously undruggable patient populations. Founded by pioneers in the CRISPR field from leading institutions for gene editing research, the company is developing a first-of-its-kind RNA writing platform that can correct thousands of bases at once, thereby correcting genetic mutations safely and reversibly. Multiple openings are available on a rapidly growing team. If you are interested in building a new frontier in genetic medicine, please apply via LinkedIn. Job Description: Scientist (Bioarchitect) Position Overview: The Scientist will play a pivotal role in bringing newly identified targets from concept to pipeline nomination and beyond, including design and experimental execution of proof-of-concept studies to support RNA editing programs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying and onboarding disease-appropriate models, defining critical disease-relevant endpoints, and designing and executing experiments to evaluate novel lead therapeutics. This role will also include advancing lead molecules through optimization and candidate selection. Reporting into the VP of Development, the candidate will work at the interface of the Platform and Development teams to ensure the seamless transition of potential therapeutics from concept to preclinical testing. Key Responsibilities: Experimentation and Execution: Onboard and validate relevant cellular models, including iPSC-derived neuronal cells, to evaluate potential therapeutics in CNS and other disease areas Develop or source robust, disease-relevant endpoint assays for target validation and phenotypic assessment Design, initiate, and manage studies conducted at external CROs or academic institutions Analyze cells and tissues to support progression from hit discovery through lead optimization to candidate nomination Data Analysis, Documentation, and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all experimental work, analysis, and outcomes Analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical and bioinformatics methods Prepare and present detailed reports and presentations for internal stakeholders, including data summaries and strategic recommendations Contribute to the drafting and review of SOPs, technical reports, and IND-enabling study materials Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate cross-functionally with platform, manufacturing, and development teams to ensure alignment on goals and timelines Participate in multidisciplinary project teams to develop and refine research and development strategies Clearly communicate findings and contribute to the development of research strategies and project plans Qualifications: Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, or a related field 2+ years of industry experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical R D; CNS-focused experience strongly preferred Demonstrated track record in lead optimization and advancing molecules to candidate selection Expertise in mammalian cell culture, including iPSCs and iPSC-derived neuronal models Proven ability to interrogate disease mechanisms in cellular models, especially in the context of neurodegeneration or other CNS indications Experience with a range of molecular and cell biology techniques, such as PCR, flow cytometry, western blot, ELISA, and RNA-based assays Experience supporting IND-enabling studies and familiarity with regulatory expectations for preclinical packages Familiarity with AAV-based gene therapies and RNA-targeting modalities is a plus Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills Demonstrated ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, and evolving research environment Preference will be given to those who display: High motivation, with a strong work ethic and dedication to generating impact Attention to detail, with the ability to extract deep insights from data Ability to go from ideation to data in an independent fashion Long-term personal vision with defined career goals Team-oriented thinking Demonstrated excellence in small team environments, including a "no task is too small attitude If you have a passion for advancing gene editing technologies and desire to be part of a pioneering biotech company, we encourage you to apply and join our ambitious team.
