The Laboratory Supervisor at Lion Elastomers leads the Quality Control Laboratory, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant testing of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products. This role combines technical expertise in analytical chemistry with leadership in lab operations, regulatory compliance, and team development to support manufacturing excellence and product integrity. Key Responsibilities Laboratory Operations and Testing Supervise and perform chemical, physical, and instrumental analyses using SOPs, ASTM, and ISO methods. Ensure timely testing to support production schedules and customer requirements. Maintain sample traceability, retention, and documentation systems. Quality Assurance and Compliance Review and approve laboratory data, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and regulatory compliance (GMP, ISO, EPA). Lead investigations into out-of-specification results and implement corrective and preventive actions. Instrumentation and Method Development Operate, calibrate, and maintain instruments (e.g., HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis, GPC). Assist in method development, validation, and instrument qualification. Coordinate with vendors for advanced troubleshooting and maintenance. Safety and Environmental Compliance Enforce chemical hygiene, PPE use, and hazardous waste handling protocols. Conduct safety training and participate in emergency response drills. Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and site-specific EHS policies. Leadership and Team Development Supervise, mentor, and evaluate lab technicians and analysts. Develop training programs and competency assessments. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and accountability. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or a related field (required); master's preferred 10+ years of laboratory experience in a R D, chemical, or manufacturing environment. 5+ years of laboratory staff management experience required. Demonstrated experience in analytical instrumentation and troubleshooting. Familiarity with LIMS, statistical analysis tools, and quality systems. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Certifications (e.g., CQA, Six Sigma) are a plus.
