Applications are sought for a full-time Assistant Project Scientist position specializing in behavioral and systems neuroscience. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary research team in Dr. Weizhe Hong's laboratory within the UCLA Department of Biological Chemistry (and Department of Neurobiology and Department of Bioengineering). The Hong Lab investigates fundamental principles underlying social behavior regulation, with particular emphasis on empathy and prosociality.
The Hong laboratory employs a multidisciplinary approach, utilizing diverse experimental and computational technologies across molecular, circuit, and behavioral levels to elucidate the neural basis of social behavior. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interest in pursuing research in this area, motivation to implement cutting-edge recording and computational techniques for studying neural mechanisms of social behavior, and enthusiasm for collaborative team development within the lab. Research projects may include electrophysiological recording of various brain regions during social behaviors, among other investigations.
Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in a biological discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in collaborative, interdisciplinary environments
  • Strong interest in conducting systems neuroscience research on social behavior
  • Prior research experience in systems neuroscience approaches to social behavior
