About the Role: This is a position that requires a deep understanding of scientific principles and management such that they can lead a team to achieve success on complex projects. \n How You'll Make An Impact: Follow work instructions and properly document work forms as per Good Laboratory Practices. Use professional judgment to determine if new documents are required or existing ones need to be updated. This may include high level documents such as product requirements or risk analysis that involve cross-functional teams. Understands the NPI process (Stage gates, etc.). Develop and optimize microbial detection, cultivation, enumeration, identification, or susceptibility testing methodologies. Design, lead, and interpret microbiological studies related to [clinical pathogens / product development / environmental samples / fermentation / diagnostic assays customize as needed]. Expected to become as a subject matter expert (SME) in microbiology during regulatory filings, audits, and partner engagements. Possess a strong ability to properly interpret experimental results and can independently make adjustments to experiments and/or studies as needed. Provide input to other experiments and/or studies. Provide expert opinion on new laboratory techniques and equipment. Take ownership of a study or series of studies that requires extensive knowledge and the participation of cross-functional groups. Maps out projects, subprojects, and resources. Use external resources, publications, and technical knowledge to anticipate or solve complex problems. Ensure that problems encountered by the team are identified, understood, and solved. Provide technical guidance and is responsible for professional development of team members. Expected to possess skills to lead a team. Make major contributions to scientific literature and conferences. Participate in the initiation and development of patent applications. Coordinate with external vendors on technical projects. Other duties as assigned On Your First Day We'd Like You To Have: B.S., M.S. and/or Ph.D. preferably with microbiology techniques and application Minimum 10 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree; minimum of 8 years with a Master's degree or minimum of 4 years with a Ph.D. It Would Be Great If You Have: Experience with antimicrobial resistance profiling, rapid diagnostic technologies, or next-generation sequencing. Familiarity with microbiome analysis or metagenomics. Salary Range $140,000 - $160,000 (salary range for candidates based in San Jose, CA) Compensation for the role is based on geographical location.
