What You'll Be DoingJob Scope: The Process Engineer will provide process engineering analyses, recommendations, and implementations in problem-solving and improvement efforts. This includes the development of concepts through detailed process design. Work closely manufacturing representatives to define problems and improvement ideas. Work closely with capital projects to provide process design basis. Provide process expertise to plant functional groups for PHA/LOPA, MOCs, and design changes. Work under minimal supervision in Freeport, TX.
Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Applying process design skills from conceptual and detailed projects including developing heat and material balances, specifying process equipment such as pumps, heat exchangers, and vessels. Able to evaluate distillation towers and internals and developing and updating engineering flow diagrams (PFD and PID).
Providing in-depth understanding and skills in the following engineering activities: equipment sizing (pumps, heat exchangers, vessels), line sizing, specifying instrumentation (flow meters and control valves), marking up PIDs as needed for the design, providing operating and control narratives, selecting equipment by evaluating vendor quotes, and assembling drawings and documentation necessary for designs by other disciplines.
Have a working understanding of process controls and safety instrumented systems
Evaluate process options and develop operation and design improvements for EHS goals.
Develop project scopes and economic justification. This includes preparation of capital authorization requests.

Ideal Background
Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Biochemical, or Petroleum Engineering from an accredited university is required.
Registration: Professional Engineering registration or CPIP certification is highly preferred.
Experience: Requires 10+ years of relevant industrial experience in chemical, petroleum, or biochemical process design engineering.

Able to apply chemical engineering principles to solve manufacturing problems, improve production processes, increase productivity, and develop process design scopes for capital projects.
Able to analyze process data and accurately
Implement process improvements to maximize productivity and minimize manufacturing costs.

Familiar with process engineering design and practices to effectively prioritize and self-manage.
Skilled in the use of process engineering tools.
Can manage multiple projects with competing time and resources.
