A bachelors degree in an environmental, biological, atmospheric, chemical, health, nuclear or physical science field, an engineering field, a geography/geosciences field, a natural resources field, or in a statistics or quantitative methods field plus four years of experience in an environmental program, nuclear energy or radiation protection program; Geographic Information Systems (GIS); an environmental, analytical, or research laboratory, LIMS (Lab Integrated Management Systems), OR laboratory auditing; OR A masters degree in an environmental, biological, atmospheric, chemical, health, nuclear or physical science field, an engineering field, a geography/geosciences field, a natural resources field, or in a statistics or quantitative methods field plus three years of experience in an environmental program, nuclear energy or radiation protection program; Geographic Information Systems (GIS); an environmental, analytical, or research laboratory, LIMS (Lab Integrated Management Systems), or laboratory auditing; OR A doctorate in any of the qualifying educational fields plus two years of experience in an environmental program, nuclear energy or radiation protection program; Geographic Information Systems (GIS); an environmental, analytical, or research laboratory, LIMS (Lab Integrated Management Systems), or laboratory auditing.

Job Duties:Supplemental Qualifications: Two years of professional level scientific/technical experience at or above the Environmental Scientist 3 level in environmental programs. Specific to data management systems, including the storage, retrieval and manipulation of data.
The incumbent of this position serves as an expert technical advisor for the Office of Environmental Services, particularly the PPPSD Division regarding the management of data and data systems used by this Division.
The incumbent must have experience and working knowledge of relevant requirements of environmental rules and statues-including, but not limited to the Clean Air Act, state statutes and regulations, LELAP regulations and requirements-to determine data requirements, data systems, databases and data flows.
The incumbent must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
The incumbent must possess an information technology background with knowledge of and experience in managing the flow of data in the subject areas and in working with the various DEQ and EPA databases that support the statewide permitting and regulatory programs, as well as experience in using data management tools such as TOAD or other Oracle tools.
The incumbent must have the ability to organize and participate in multi-office, multi-process workgroups necessary to address the long term data system planning needs for the assigned program areas.
This position provides TEMPO support for Asbestos, Lead, LELAP, and the Public Participation activities in PPPSD.

This position is is within the Permit Support Division within the Office of Environmental Services. This position is domiciled in Headquarters in Baton Rouge .

There is a Special Entrance Rate (SER) for this position, as follows:
Environmental Scientist Senior DCL-B: $38.45 per hour or $3,075.60 Biweekly
