Job Description

The Laboratory Technician will conduct analyses of raw materials, intermediates and finished goods in a safe manner. This is a 12-hr night shift position.

Responsibilities
  • Work safely and encourage others to do so. Advocate safety and take the initiative to correct hazardoussituations or activities.
  • Conduct routine analyses of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods.
  • Accurately record results andkeep all records neat and organized.
  • Effectively communicate results to Production personnel and othercustomers and work to meet their needs.
  • Follow all procedures carefully, and work to ensure that all data are accurate.
  • Screen data generated and takeappropriate steps to ensure all data are accurate and timely.
  • Obtain and maintain certification on all major tests.
  • Given guidance and instructions, perform non-routine analyses.
  • Strive to increase job knowledge and develop new skills.
  • Be flexible and open to new tests and assignments.
  • Work any shift, weekend, holiday, or overtime required. This position will serve as primary vacation coverageon night shifts.
  • Organize, initiate, and retain material composite samples, and help complete special projects as required.
Physical Requirements and Environment
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or equivalent technical training and experience in laboratory environment.
  • Must be able to distinguish color changes associated with laboratory testing.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform laboratory calculations, ability to interpret data, and an understanding of basiclaboratory chemistry
