Job DescriptionPerform basic bacterial culturing, cell culturing or virology, with aseptic technique, and prepare mediaConduct tissue processing, cell based assays and / or immunoassays (ELISA, Western blot) with serum and other biological samplesPerform basic molecular biology tasks such as PCR, RT-PCR, DNA/RNA purification and protein analysis techniquesPrepare reagents, manage and process clinical samplesData entry, verification and handling, record keeping, in accordance with scientific protocol and applicable Standard Operating ProceduresSelf-starter, able to prioritize and work efficientlyDemonstrate ability to follow a written procedurePerform laboratory housekeeping duties and other general laboratory related tasks when assistance is neededOrder, maintain and stock lab supplies such as common assay reagents, laboratory consumables, gloves, cleaning agents, etc.Conducting larger scale Immunoassays and DNA purification using available automationAssisting with GLP and non-GLP clinical studiesAssist with developing, optimizing and validation of potency/clinical assaysQualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in biological sciences, chemistry or related disciplineExperience with PCRStrong computer, scientific, and organizational skillsExcellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detailAbility to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitudeAbility to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policiesCell culture - basic skills: aseptic technique and understanding of cell-based assaysMicrobiology - basic skills: aseptic technique, media prep, basic culturingMolecular Biology and Immunology - basic understanding of ELISA, DNA, RNA and protein analysis techniquesGeneral laboratory experience in microbiology and/or immunologyAuthorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorshipCandidates currently living within a commutable distance of Kalamazoo, MI are encouraged to applyAdditional InformationPosition is full-time, Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm.
