Company Description

ORIC is a research-driven company dedicated to discovering and developing novel therapies that can Overcome Resistance In Cancer. Our collaborative, empowering culture gives scientists the authority, responsibility, and support to do cutting-edge work on therapies for treatment-resistant cancers. Our culture and values support our mission, provide a shared understanding of how we work together as a company and provide a clear sense of what is most important for us as an organization.

Job Description

ORIC is seeking a talented and highly motivated Bioinformatics Scientist to pursue forward and reverse translational projects in collaboration with our Research, Development and Clinical Teams. A successful candidate will actively contribute to the translation of preclinical findings into testable clinical hypotheses to guide the development of ORIC's expanding pipeline and will have the opportunity to explore complex molecular biomarker data derived from our clinical trial samples. S/he/they will achieve this through development and implementation of statistical and computational strategies required for advancing ORIC's translational and biomarker efforts geared towards precision oncology.

Responsibilities:

  • Work as the bioinformatics lead collaboratively with a variety of functional groups in the analysis and interpretation of pre-clinical in vitro and in vivo data toward developing patient selection hypotheses for ongoing and future clinical trials.
  • Use creative bioinformatics approaches and leverage internal and publicly available high-throughput genomic datasets to identify target indications and patient subsets for ORIC's pipeline.
  • Analyze clinical trial data to validate and refine our biomarker approaches.
  • Communicate complex results, both verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner that is accessible to a diverse audience of bioinformatics, experimental and clinical scientists.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience:

  • You have a PhD in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology or similar, with a strong publication record. Alternatively, you have a PhD in molecular biology, or a related field combined with very strong evidence of high-throughput data analysis experience, supported by publication in this area.
  • You have postdoctoral (or equivalent) experience in basic or translational research either in an academic or industry setting with a record of publications in lead positions, with an additional 0-2 years of professional experience for Scientist and 3+ years for Senior Scientist.
  • You are passionate and intensely curious about the relevant concepts in cancer biology. You are enthusiastic to grow and learn more.
  • You have broad experience in the analysis, integration and interpretation of large-scale genomic data (e.g. RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, Exome-seq, ATAC-seq, etc.) using up-to-date statistical and machine learning methods. Experience with chromatin assays (e.g. ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, Hi-C) is a significant plus.
  • You are comfortable with the statistical principles behind best practices in genomic and molecular data analysis.
  • You have strong experience writing code in languages, such as R or Python for complex data analysis and data visualization. You are familiar with UNIX and high-performance computing environments.
  • You have exceptionally strong communication, data presentation and visualization skills.
  • You are comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, and with handling several concurrent, fast-paced projects.

Additional Information

The anticipated salary range for candidates in the bay area is between $72.00-$103.00 per hour. The final rate offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the title, type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc.
