The Role:
The Research Associate II will work onsite with the lead scientist for cellular assays including AAV potency, infectivity and cytotoxicity to support teams including the GT Engineering.
Responsibilities:
Perform mammalian cell culture and DNA/siRNA transfection, AAV infection/transduction.
Perform DNA and RNA isolation, PCR, qPCR and ddPCR analysis of gene expression.
Perform Western Blot, ELISA, etc to evaluate protein expression and function.
Perform other cell based functional assays.
Collect, process, and evaluate data; accurately document assay results and analyze data, prepare study reports, and communicate results and research progress in lab meetings as needed.
Participate in sample management activities such as receiving, processing, storage, and shipping pre-clinical samples.
Collaborate with other teams to efficiently handle material and data transfer between groups
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or Biochemistry with 2+ years of wet lab experience
Proven proficient hands-on experience with sterile technique for handling and maintaining mammalian cells.
Demonstrated experience with cellular techniques (2D & 3D cell culture, expansion, maintenance, characterization, differentiation, banking).
Demonstrated protein based assays including but not limited to protein expression level, modification, protein binding/interaction, enzymatic evaluation.
Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment to meet project goals and timelines
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
Broad understanding of cell biology, molecular biology and biochemistry assays.
Fast learner with Passion to improve the work efficiency and quality.
Intensive wet lab experience handling and growing mammalian cells including cell lines, primary cells.
Ability to set up cell based functional assays.
Experience working with viruses, especially Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV).
Work Environment:
This position is based in South San Francisco, CA, USA and will require on-site work
Salary Range: $67,200- $96,000 (NOTE: Final salary could be more or less, based on experience)
