Senior Scientist - Cardiometabolic Disorders

This is an opportunity to join Amgens Cardiometabolic Disorders therapeutic area at our South San Francisco site as a Senior Scientist. In this vital role, you will lead and execute research efforts aimed at elucidating the biological mechanisms underlying cardiometabolic diseases. Your work will focus on generating insights that deepen our understanding of disease pathogenesis and inform the development of innovative therapeutics. This role offers a unique opportunity to impact the advancement of medicine.

  • You will contribute to the identification and validation of therapeutic targets, advancing programs from target nomination through preclinical development, with the goal of delivering therapeutic candidates to first-in-human studies

  • Lead research initiatives

  • Actively engage in lab experiments, applying your expertise directly at the bench to drive scientific discovery and therapeutic development

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a life sciences discipline with substantial postdoctoral or equivalent research experience in academia or industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in analyzing and interpreting omics datasets, including single-cell sequencing, with familiarity in computational data processing and integration.

  • Proven expertise in utilizing and developing animal models to investigate disease mechanisms, with a preference for experience in cardiovascular research.

  • In-depth knowledge of gene regulatory mechanisms, demonstrated through the design and execution of experiments using cell culture systems to study gene expression and regulation.

  • Solid foundation in human genetics, with experience in interpreting genetic data to elucidate disease associations and inform research directions.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
