We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Quality Control (QC) Chemist to join our team. This role is a hybrid position that integrates QC testing with Quality Assurance (QA) oversight and Food Safety compliance. The ideal candidate will conduct chemical and physical analyses of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure they meet company and regulatory specifications. In addition, this role supports broader QA initiatives and food safety programs, including documentation, audits, and regulatory compliance.
Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Control (Laboratory Testing):
Perform routine chemical, physical, and microbiological analyses on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
Prepare reagents, standards, and samples in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and ensure accurate data collection.
Interpret analytical results and ensure timely reporting of deviations.
Document test results clearly and accurately in lab records and databases.
Quality Assurance:
Support internal audits, investigations, and root cause analyses of non-conformances.
Review batch records, production logs, and test results to ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, and company standards.
Assist in developing and updating SOPs, work instructions, and training materials.
Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards.
Coordinate corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
Food Safety:
Assist in the implementation and monitoring of food safety programs (e.g., HACCP, FSMA, SQF).
Participate in sanitation verification, allergen control, and environmental monitoring programs.
Maintain documentation and readiness for third-party audits and inspections.
Required:
Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biochemistry, or a related field preferred
2+ years of experience in a QC lab or quality assurance environment, preferably in the food, beverage, or pharmaceutical industry.
Strong knowledge of analytical techniques
Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, and FDA food regulations.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Preferred:
Experience with ISO 22000, SQF, or BRC certification programs.
Certification in HACCP, PCQI, or similar food safety programs.
Working knowledge of root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams).
Laboratory and production floor environments.
May require standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and use of PPE.
Occasional after-hours or weekend work during audits or special projects.
