Eurofins Agroscience Services is searching for a Senior Scientist (LC/MS Specialist) to work with our team in Hercules, CA.
Senior Scientist responsibilities include:
Daily operation of both quantitative (Sciex API 6500) and qualitative (Thermo Orbitrap Exploris 240) LC/MS instruments
Conduct method development and method validation on LC/MS systems
Manage routine maintenance of LC/MS systems, including cleaning, repairs, and preventative maintenance
Processing of quantitative LC/MS data using Analyst
Structural elucidation of unknown metabolites based on qualitative results from Exploris 240
Preparation of summary LC/MS reports
Perform routine laboratory tasks as required for conduct of studies and analysis
Preparation of data summaries, draft reports and response to QA audits
Contribute to revision of SOPs and writing initial draft of new SOPs
Able to troubleshoot and resolve problems encountered during conduct of studies
May be designated as Study Director of one or more projects responsible for monitoring GLP compliance of work performed on assigned project(s)
Presentation of project updates for presentation to sponsors
Helps training new laboratory personnel
QualificationsThe ideal candidate would possess:
Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
Experience working under good laboratory practice (GLP) standards
GLP study director or project management experience
Experience with regulatory testing for the agriculture industry
Basic Minimum Qualifications:
Experience in the operation, application, interpretation of LC-MS/MS for structure elucidation and accurate mass determination is essential.
Familiarity with LC/MS software such as Xcalibur, Chromeleon, Analyst, MassHunter, and Compound Discoverer
Bachelors degree in relevant field such as chemistry, biochemistry, biology, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, or other directly related field or degree with comparable coursework in the above areas and a minimum of five years of experience in a directly relevant setting.
A Masters degree in a relevant field and three years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelors degree and experience.
A PhD in a relevant field may be substituted for bachelors degree and experience.
In rare cases, comparable demonstrated competence and experience in the relevant area may be used to substitute in whole or in part for the Bachelors degree.
Familiarity and/or experience in a laboratory setting is required.
Authorization to work in the United Sates indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
Additional InformationPosition is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with overtime and some weekend shifts required as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Hercules, CA are encouraged to apply. Salary range is $80,000-100,000 annually.
