Software Development Engineer 2 (Back End)

Software Development Engineer 2 (Back End) (Michaels Stores, Inc. Irving, TX); Multiple positions available: Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software. Improve system quality by identifying issues, common patterns, and developing standard operating procedures. Enhance applications by identifying opportunities for improvement, making recommendations, and designing and implementing systems. Maintain and improve existing codebases and peer review code changes. Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. Work with teams to implement technical designs. Investigate and use new technologies where relevant. Position reports to Irving, TX, but may telecommute from any location in the U.S.

Requires a Bachelors degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field and 1 year of experience in software development. Education, training, or experience must include: Working with large scale web traffic and data with experience in Data Structures, Algorithms, and Linear Algebra; Java, Python, C, C++, MongoDB, MySQL, or similar programming language; Building search systems such as Elastic, SORL, Lucene, or Algolia; Building large-scale data pipelines; Working with cloud services, such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure; and Machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing applications. Position reports to Irving, TX, but may telecommute from any location in the U.S.
