Sr. Software Development Engineer - PostgreSQL Internals, Aurora DSQL

Amazon Aurora DSQL is a serverless, distributed SQL database with virtually unlimited scale, highest availability, and zero infrastructure management. Aurora DSQL provides active-active high availability, providing strong data consistency designed for 99.99% single-Region and 99.999% multi-Region availability. Aurora DSQL automatically manages and scales system resources, so you don't have to worry about maintenance downtime and provisioning, patching, or upgrading infrastructure.

DSQL's query processor is built around PostgreSQL and we are looking for a senior engineer with deep expertise in PostgreSQL engine internals. As part of this role, you will focus on adapting and extending PostgreSQL for a distributed sql architecture. You will enable the team to deliver major version upgrades and will review designs across the query processing that have a dependency on understanding of postgres internals. This role may also require upstreaming changes to PostgreSQL either directly or through influencing the community.

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

- Must be recognized as a PostgreSQL community committer (write access to the primary engine source code repository).

Preferred Qualifications

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
