GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Food Scientist develops product formulations for new products and matching competitive products per customer and regulatory requirements.
PRINCIPAL ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop product formulations for new products and matching competitive products
- Document and modify experimental formulas and processing procedures to develop final specifications
- Compile and document all project information including experiment results, reasons for directional changes and project status at all times
- Write and maintain complete and accurate product specification sheets
- Conduct plant trials for the purpose of producing samples for customer evaluation or new products
- Communicate with customers, sales, quality assurance and production during all phases of a project
- Support the Sales staff with customers regarding product characteristics
- Maintain the working status of heat penetration equipment including wires, thermocouple, probes and computer
- Maintain organized laboratory and lab equipment
- Responsible to refill and guarantee freshness of laboratory ingredients
- Maintain regular and acceptable attendance
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
- 2 + years experience
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication
- Proficient in Microsoft office products
- Maintain accurate and complete records
- High standards of cleanliness
- Bachelors degree (B.A.) in Food Science
- Familiarity or experience with thermal processing, functional ingredients, dry blending recommended
